About This Program
Computer Aided Design (CAD) has replaced the manual drafting process and allows three-dimensional design of parts and components in industries that include automotive, steel, plastics, and more. The designs that CAD operators produce are used to control automated machines through CAM (computer aided machining), so it is an essential skill for the manufacturing process. While many people believe that all manufacturing has moved offshore, Ohio's manufacturing industry -particularly in the CAD/CAM space -is still alive and well. In fact, it offers excellent job opportunities for skilled CAD operators. The Short-Term Computer Aided Design Certificate is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed for an entry-level CAD operator position. It covers fundamental knowledge in the manufacturing process and problem solving as well as hands-on experience with modern equipment. You may choose to continue your education by applying the credits earned in this program to the Computer Aided Design Operator One-Year Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology -Computer Aided Design.
