CTE Internship Opportunity Program

In support of the National Imperative for Industrial Skills and the Next Generation Submarine Shipbuilding Supply Chain Partnership, SENEDIA has developed the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Internship Opportunity Program.  This program will connect students enrolled in CTE programs throughout the New England-region with industry partners in the submarine shipbuilding supply chain.

Program Overview

SENEDIA will provide submarine shipbuilding supply chain partners with up to $5,000 to support a Career and Technical Education student intern from a trades and industrial skills pipeline program.
Industry partners who apply must provide an internship opportunity to a student between June 20 and August 26, 2022, with the intention of providing a 4-, 6-, or 8-week internship opportunity.  The industry partner will receive a reimbursement subsidy to cover the intern’s wages for an approved length of time (reimbursement is only available for base wages, any fringe benefits will be at the cost of the industry partner).  Intern wages should equal the partner’s entry level pay, up to $15/hour.

Application Process

Partners will need to identify the anticipated dates for the internship (between the dates provided above), a description of the type of work and responsibilities the intern would have, desired qualifications that the intern may hold (or be training in), and any other relevant work requirements/information that may be applicable to the internship.
Each approved application will be converted into an internship job posting that will be shared with the partner’s home state CTE programs.  The CTE programs will assist students in preparing and applying to the postings.  Students will apply directly to the industry partner through the internship posting.
Industry partners will inform SENEDIA when an intern has been hired, and provide the following information:
  1. Intern Name
  2. Internship Start/End Date
  3. Anticipated Total Hours
  4. Pay Rate
Interns will maintain a Next Generation Submarine Shipbuilding Supply Chain Partnership – CTE Internship Opportunity Program time sheet, detailing their work time, as well as any new skills learned or tasks completed.  The intern’s supervisor will be responsible for signing the time sheet.  The signed time sheets will be provided to SENEDIA at the end of the internship, at which time SENEDIA will reimburse the industry partner the total time worked x approved intern wage, up to a maximum of $5,000.

Applications are due by: December 17, 2021
